Credit Where Credit is Due...

To the man for whom this blog was temporarily named this weekend. He returned from Thursday's disaster to pitch Lidge in the Eighth Inning both yesterday and today, getting the series back to 2-2. Rather than make the situation worse by continuing to insist that the Astros were going to "need Dan Miceli's contribution" if they wanted to win the Series, he all but publicly repudiated his earlier decision-making over the last two games, particularly when he brought Lidge in tonight after using him for two innings last night. Credit also to him for sticking with Wheeler after Pujols' double. Even those of us most hawkish on the issue of closers would have blanched at a three inning outing coming off of 40 pitches the night before, but Garner didn't panic after Pujols' at-bat, recognizing Wheeler (as strange as this might be) as being his best chance of getting out of the inning. He left the gas cans in the garage where they belonged, and they are back in this series. Next big issue (yes, Lidge should go two tomorrow if he has to. This is not a big issue.): Who pitches Game 6?

  • This site is so borning. It makes me want to do long division or knitting or anything but read more. And Phil, you're just so strange. So strange. Your blog sucks, and nobody likes it. It's not funny. I want you to know that especially: not funny. My husband Steve thinks you're a panty-waist and that Jim Tracy is the best manager in the league. He says he'll kick your butt, anytime, anywhere, too.

  • I think Bobby and Steve Dooly are Jim Tracy's bridge partners or something.

And good question -- who is Phil?

  • This wouldn't happen to be my good old bosom buddy pal Jeff from Atlanta?
