The Daily News Does It Better

I have only one complaint. As things stand right now, I would pick the Giants in the West (as things stand right now). And things could break so that the Dodgers could finish behind the D-Backs and Rockies. But I doubt it. The D-Backs are overhyped by the mindset that spending money equals success -- they are in big, big trouble. The Rockies? No good. And I think the Dodgers would be competitive with the Padres, who have not improved at all this offseason, having simply replaced David Wells with Woody Williams. In other words, plugging in an outfielder and a pitcher is going to go a long way toward making this team a contender in the West. We're actually not that far away, and we're still keeping that "flexibility" that is only important to General Managers who have to keep winning year after year in order to keep their jobs.
