We're Pulling Out of Here to Win

What a great night. A bunch of nice storylines to talk about:

- Jose Valentin, needing redemption like a character in a Springsteen song, goes 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs and comes within a double of hitting for the cycle.

- Jason Repko shows no signs of being this year's James Loney and goes 2 for 5 in his Dodger debut. With reports saying that Jayson Werth could miss an extended period of time, Repko could be a nice spring surprise for the squad.

- Jason Phillips continues to impress, going 2-5 and narrowly missing hitting a home run.

- Olmedo Saenz--a solid contributor off the bench last year--goes 3 for 4 and looks like he deserves extra at-bats.

- Steve Schmoll pitches a fine 1-2-3 inning in his Dodger debut.

- Jeff Kent goes 2 for 4 with a walk and 3 runs and impresses both on offense and defense. Though I'm not a big believer in clubhouse chemistry, I think he could provide some veteran spark and leadership here.

- Odalis Perez--though not great--pitched as if the tendenitis shouldn't be a concern.

1 Comments:

  • A minor quibble. A commenter below noted that Perez threw a lot of soft stuff (maybe more than usual?) and I tend to agree. That may just be conditioning, but I wouldn't call Perez out of the woods just yet.
